How can I purchase or add a Meal Plan?

What are the benefits of having a meal plan?

Meal plans are the most convenient way to take advantage of all of the food options on campus. Whether you just need a between-class snack, a full course meal or coffee on the go, it's covered when you have a meal plan. A meal plan is the easiest way to dine on campus and not have to carry cash or lose your parking spot by leaving campus. With the plans we have available, anyone on campus can eat whatever, whenever, and wherever!

What is VIP?

VIP plans offer windows of opportunity to use a meal swipe in place of dining dollars at the Fountain Food Court and Stratton Cafe. One swipe per day, Sunday-Thursday, 8:00pm-2:00am.

Which campus locations participate in the VIP program?

Locations include Chick-Fil-A, Greens to Go, Grille Works, Subway, Twisted Taco and Stratton Cafe.

What are Dining Dollars and where can they be used?

Dining Dollars are a flex funds that can be used at all campus dining locations and convenience locations.

If I use all of my Dining Dollars can I add money to my account?

Yes, you may add funds in the form of optional flex at any time by visiting EKU Get Funds. To access Get Funds click here. Optional flex must be paid for out of pocket and may not be charged to your student account.

Will I forfeit any remaining dining dollars at the end of the semester?

Students on the mandatory $300 Dining Dollar plan who have remaining funds at the end of the fall semester will roll those funds to the spring semester. At the end of the academic year students may request unused funds between May 15 and June 15, and the unused funds be returned to the account holder.  All Access Plan and other plan members will forfeit any remaining balance on June 16 annually.

How do I request a closure/refund of my unused Dining Dollars?

Refunds can be requested online via EKU Direct. Students can begin submitting requests after May 15 each year and all requests must be completed no later than June 15.

I am a freshman and have received a commuter exemption from the University, am I required to purchase a meal plan?

No, but all freshman must carry a minimum of the $300 Dining Dollar (flex) plan.

I am a sophomore, am I required to purchase a meal plan?

No, but all sophomores must carry a minimum of the $300 Dining Dollar (flex) plan.

What is optional flex and how does it work?

Optional flex is money added to your account via EKU Get Funds. It functions exactly like your Dining Dollars in terms of purchasing but will only be available for spending once your Dining Dollars have been depleted. All optional flex must be paid for out of pocket and may not be billed to the student account.

Does optional flex expire and can it be refunded?

Optional flex never expires regardless of student class. It will roll over from semester to semester and from one academic year to the next. Unspent optional flex cannot be refunded.

What is the difference between a 5 and 7-Day All Access meal plan?

The 7-Day All Access plan allows access to the Student Dining Center Monday - Sunday. This plan is ideal for students who spend weekends on campus. The 5-Day All Access plan allows access to the Student Dining Center Monday - Friday. This plan is ideal for students who commute or do not spend much time on campus during the weekend.

If I am on one of the 5-Day All Access plans, can I still eat at the Fresh Food Co on the weekends?

Yes. We accept cash, credit, debit, flex, and Colonel Cash. The door price is $5.15 for breakfast and $8.45 for lunch and dinner.

Can I charge my meal plan to my student account?

Yes. All meal plans are automatically assessed to your student bill just like tuition, housing and other university fees.

Can I carry meals over to the next semester?

No, all meals expire at the end of the semester.


Do freshmen living on campus have to purchase the $300 Dining Dollar plan in addition to their residential meal plan?

No. $300 Dining Dollars are included in all of the all access plans and built into the purchase price of that plan.

Can I change my meal plan?

Yes. You can upgrade your meal plan at any time during the semester. You may only downgrade within the first two weeks of the semester. As a freshman you cannot downgrade if you only have the mandatory minimum plan (5 Day All Access for residents and $300 Dining Dollar Commuter plan for commuters).

Can I treat friends or family with my meals?

All meal plans, with the exception of the $300 and $500 Dining Dollar only plans, include 5 guest meals per semester. The guest meals are built into your existing meal plan. If you run out of guest meals you can treat a guest using your Flex Dollars or with cash, credit card, optional flex or Colonel Cash.

If I do not have a meal plan, can I still eat at the Fresh Food Co?

Yes. We accept cash, credit, debit, flex, and Colonel Cash. The door price is $5.15 for breakfast and $8.45 for lunch and dinner.
